2xFXR3048A in Master/Slave not giving 240V

Post by miahallen »

As title suggests....more details:

Setup with HUB10 & Mate3
Inverter ranking: port 1 Master, port 2 Slave
GridZero configuration
600AH lithium battery
5500W solar support via 2x Flexmax80
Inverters FWs match

Master outputs 120V and positively synchronized with associated grid leg
Slave outputs 120V but negatively synchronized with its associated grid leg
So grid terminals (across the 2 inverters) is 240V
But inverter output (across the 2 inverters) is 0V

Mate does not indicate any errors.....any suggestions?

A few suggestions:
• Confirm the AC Input wiring for the two inverters is: Master Hot = L1, Neutral = N; L2 Sub-Phase Master = Hot = L2, Neutral = N.
• Confirm the Stacking configuration is Series (Classic) stacking and not Parallel.
• On the Hub: Inverter 1 (Master) on Port 1; Inverter 2 (L2 Sub-Phase Master) on Port 2
• In the Hub: Confirm jumpers are set for Series stacking.

Raysun, thanks for the suggestion.....but where can I toggle series vs parallel stacking? I am not aware of any jumpers on the HUB....you mean physical jumpers?

Series/Parallel stacking is set via the Mate (can't be done in Optics).

Yes, 10 physical jumpers in the Hub.

Ok, I'll check into this when I get back to the customer location tomorrow. I did not know about the jumpers, and I didn't find any option for series/parallel, only for Master/Slave, but I'll look again.

This is the HUB...it doesn't match the info in the manual, so I'm not exactly sure how to adjust.

I think instead of Master/Slave, I should set Master / L2 Phase Master.....this seems to be working.

Master / Slave is Parallel stacking verbiage. (120V single phase out.)
Master / L2 Sub Phase Master is Series stacking. (240V split phase out.)

Note on the right side of the circuit board. There is a cluster of 10 jumper pins pairs with 5 jumper plugs. One bank is marked "Single Phase" (and has the jumpers on it), the other is marked 3 Phase/Split. Move the 5 jumpers to the 3Phase/Split pins.

Also, by convention, the L2 Sub Phase Master is plugged into Hub port 7. (AFIK, this is to support some old software release.)

Ok, yes, everything working now, thanks a bunch for the assist. BTW, FX2 is plugged into port 2....working fine.

Yes, it will work with the L2 Sub Phase Master plugged into Port 2, but its not the convention. If the customer contacts OB Tech Support in the future it will be one (minor) obfuscation. Also, (in the unlikely event) the should the system be expanded to 4 inverters, L1 Slave will need to be in Port 2.
