New Mate3s arrived, but is it like my old one?

Post by inMichigan »

Back during the Pandemic, my Mate3 stopped displaying information. It worked if I plugged it into any of my Outback devices (two Radians and four FM80's) one by one, just not with the hub. Due to the electronics shortages, replacements did not have the 'Ethernet' functional, so I waited. I haven't changed any of my settings in what seems like at least 5 years. Everything ran just fine, just no monitoring via the internet.

Earlier this month, I finally saw that the 'non functional' eithernet port note was removed, so I bought a replacement Mate3s and Hub.

What does this sticker mean? I don't want to open up the sealed documentation if this is how 'non functional Ethernet' is communicated. If that's the case, I'll send it back.

Both Ethernet and Hub use RJ45 ports so standard ethernet cables can plug into either. However, ethernet and modbus are electrically dissimilar. Plugging an OB Hub into the ethernet port can damage it.
I suspect the sticker over the ethernet port is sporting the international symbol for RTFM.

My Mate3s had that sticker. I just removed it, plugged in the ethernet cable and everything is working as it should.

Thanks for the confirmation. I also found out that the de-contented version has a "L" in the model number.
