Flexware 500-DC Ground Question

Post by bdimambro »

All,

Yea I know ... another ground question. The Flexware DC-500 enclosure I purchased for use in my power panel build has the ground terminal bonded to the line (device) DC terminal block for SHUNTA. I do not see this bond on the schematics or being present on my brother-in-laws's 48VDC factory wired Flexware power panel (in the 500-DC power box). I do have the AC neutral bonded to ground in the 500-AC power box. Is this bond necessary?

Thanks for the help,

Brian

Battery Negative is frequently grounded, along with other DC components, and this may be an implementation for that purpose. I don't know of a reason it would be connected on the load side of a shunt, however.
The AC ground to neutral bond generally terminates on the same ground, but serves a different purpose.

Yea, my verbiage was sloppy. What I meant was if the bond between the ground and SHUNTA was necessary in the DC-500 box. Bonding the AC neutral to ground is needed.

If you are wanting to ground the battery negative (generally considered a best practice), that connection would allow for it.
