AC input L1/L2 instead of L1/N

Post by Lennert »

Hi, please your help.

Where I live we have the grid is 127v between a phase and neutral (L1/N) and 220v between two phases (L1/L2). The frequency is 50Hz.

I now would like to supply the VFXR3024 AC input with the grid. Is this allowed?

I'm asking this as the neutral of the AC input and the neutral of the AC output are shared.

Kind regards,
Lennert,-

I install and maintain grid-tied and off-grid systems in my area and consult on solar system design/operation.

Welcome,

What country are you in? Your profile says that you have a VFXR3024E which expects an input voltage of 170 to 290 VAC per the spec sheet. Which is typical of Europe and many other countries. However, your description sounds like you have a split-phase system more typical of North America for which the VFXR3024E is not appropriate. Please confirm what inverter you do have.

Hi,
I live in Curaçao in the Caribbean, part of the Dutch Kingdom. Our grid is 3-phase with 127v between phase and neutral and 220v between phases. We use both 127/120/110v and 220/230v devices. The net frequency is 50Hz. My home has both 127v outlets which look like the American ones and 220v outlets that look like the European ones.

I do have a VFXR3524, 120v 60 Hz, but as our net frequency is 50 Hz, I’d like to switch this out for the VFXR3024E with 50 Hz frequency.

If you have the installer password (not the 1732), you can change the frequency of your VFXR3524A from 60 HZ to 50 HZ, by going to the Grid Interface Protection (GIP) menu.
To get to the GIP menu, first you have to access the Settings menu via the default 1732, then go to System/Installer Settings/Change Installer Password.
Then go to Settings/Inverter/Grid Interface Protection/Continue/Operating Frequency/Change
