Home Assistant integration for MATE3/MATE3s via MODBUS TCP

Post by Specialist » Thu Sep 24, 2026 11:22 am

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a native Home Assistant integration for OutBack systems that connects directly to the MATE3/MATE3s via Modbus TCP over the local network.
It lets you monitor and control the system from Home Assistant, with no cloud and no extra hardware.

It's been running on my own system for a while, and I'm now looking for 4–5 beta testers to try it on different setups before a wider release.

I'm especially interested in:

FX / VFX or FXR inverters
Single-phase/ Split-Phase Radians (including 230 V)
Stacked systems or multiple charge controllers
AXS/MATE/MATE3s Port users

What you'd need:

A MATE3/MATE3s (or AXS Port) on your local network
Home Assistant already running with HACS
Some time to test and share feedback: what works, what's wrong, what you'd add or remove

Testing and feedback will be coordinated through a small Telegram group. If you're interested, reply below or send me a DM with your inverter and charge controller setup, and I'll send you the invite.

Thanks!

Here some captures. The dashboard need to be created from scratch by yourself.

When you get a polished version that is easy enough for a person with very limited knowledge of Home Assistant to install and setup I have a desire to purchase it.. I would like to get even more AC monitoring features using Emporia Vue sensors into Home Assistant as well.. Sadly I am an Elmer Fudd when it comes to these software packages so I would be useless in a beta debug role..

Will be free. At this point the latest release is solid. Basic commands to change commons values.

Go ahead and install the custom repo in HACS.
