Sunspec Modbus on Skybox Inverter

Post by mehrdad6687 »

Hello,
I with my colleagues are trying to find a way to communicate with a Skybox Inverter system with Sunspec Modbus protocol or perhaps IEEE 2030.5. We understand the device is IEEE 2030.5 compliant and certified by CSIP but the handbook does not provide any information about Sunspec Modbus or IEEE 2030.5 protocol at all. It only says to contact the Sales team. We have been trying to contact them for weeks but no real response came.
We are only interested in getting some information about what types of data points the inverter is capable of using with Sunspec Modbus and how this protocol can be configured on the device. Is there a mapping document perhaps about Sunspec Modbus or a configuration tool for it? Any help or hint is hugely appreciated. Thanks

The Skybox is an discontinued product that Outback never completed. Documentation at the protocol level is non-existent for end users, AFIK.

Hello,

Thanks for the answer. So, does that mean we can never find out how it communicates via Modbus or uses the IEEE 2030.5 protocol?

Discovery will be on your own initiative, I'm afraid. Outback, when it had staff that knew Skybox internals, never published an API, TMK. Now, Outback, with who-knows-who driving the bus, most likely won't either.
