OpticsRE weidness

Post by sodamo »

Something going on?
Last night my optics going nuts.
soc graph crashed to zero.
pV showed as producing hundreds of Kwh power even though dark, spiking to over 42,000 a couple times.
This morning, my primary system has been renamed.

From the software side of things: Looks like your charge controller on port 9 started pushing a bunch of erroneous data around the same time the SOC went haywire and crashed to zero. The other charge controller data seems fine.

Our logs are showing a "SD Card Bad or Unformatted" error and a "Inverter on port 1 has detected a Battery Voltage Sensor Failure ." So if you have not done so, you may want to remove the SD card and do a full FAT32 file format after saving any files on it that you would like to keep. Corrupted SD cards can cause all kinds of strange behavior to happen with data reporting to OpticsRE.

Beyond that, I don't have much I can recommend you do besides maybe a power cycle of the Mate3s and monitoring the system to see if additional errors are appearing. The FN-DC might need to be recalibrated if it's consistently reporting the wrong state of charge even after a reboot, so keep an eye on it to make sure the percentage looks correct for your voltage levels after a charging cycle.

Same has been happening to me the last couple days. Went through all the trouble shooting steps with support and they concluded my Mate3s was faulty and needed replacement. I have ordered a new one.
My site has named itself Outback Power Technologies. When I correct the name it only sticks for a few minutes and then reverts back. My system shows generator running and charging at random times. Solar charging is all over. Battery charge changes randomly.
Replaced SD card no change. Erased logs and renewed them. Events show constant trying to upgrade all parts of system including Mate3s.

Reading from the Mate3s screen remain correct and accurate. System works normally/

Thanks, guys
Kinda strange. Especially the Optics antics.
Will monitor over weekend. Called OB tech, but too late and left msg. Hopefully resolve Monday.

This has been a very reliable system up until last month

At the suggestion of my installer, we removed the Mate3?
Made it thru the night without a hiccup.
Just lucky or found the problem? Don’t know.
Will keep this Mate3 out of system until I can talk with OB tech Monday.

Support recommended the same for me, but I left it in. It works normally just reports wrong to the Opticre. I left it in as this time of year we use the Generator autostart and it is working normally. Good Luck, my new one is on its way.

We use autostart as well, but pretty much weather dependent. If decent weather I’ll just not run pool and hot tub to keep load down, otherwise I could just do manual gen.

Start of our rainy season, but we are in bad drought. Only 6 inches rain this month and that was mostly this week. My average for Nov is 18, but lowest I’ve recorded is 9.01. We are at 1100 ft elevation, so cloud cover can affect us.

Wow.... A drought with "Only 6 inches rain this month." That's just under 1/2 of a year's total for us.

At the other end of the island, we live in a mesic dry forest and would consider it exceptional to get 36" of rain in a year.

Survived another night without issue.

Will put the Mate3 back into system to make sure OpticsRE is active and call tech support. Will they agree Mate3 is my problem? I don’t know for sure it is, but will ask. I’m hopefull issue has been identified.

Ok, this is frustrating. 9 calls to tech support this morning, 8 dropped, finally get my turn and tech puts me in another cue. Not trusting I wouldn’t drop again, left call back number and back to waiting.

Yeah, I went through that once with OB TS. When I did get call backs it was the worst possible time for a connection and I don't know where the problem was so not placing any blame. Not just OB but for all of these things it would be cool to get a text saying "We're calling you in 5 minutes." That also solves the thing of sitting around awaiting the call back and it doesn't happen. It would save the time of all parties involved.

Over an hour on phone with Kevin at Tech support 🤙

I had 8 dropped calls before talking with anyone and Kevin have to call me back 5 times. Ahhh, wifi calling and poor att signal.

Kevin was great.
Took awhile, but determined at problem with the AUX Relay stack which affected AGS gen start. New board coming.

Forgot to ask how to get my OpticsRE system name changed back.
Will update once I get new board.

I agree JR, don’t like unknown waits.

See Wolfridge's reply above for getting the system name changed.

You should be able to find it in the System Tools menu (Gear in the top right corner) -> Devices. The field at the top should be "System Name". If you change that it should update.

I got this weird events happening over time. there is nothing wrong with you system if is very rare. 2 of my system names were changed. this seem to be a glitch with opticsRE for the name change. for the power spikes could be some errors in the data collection or when uploaded to opticsRE.
if is a every day occurrence, then probably something wrong with the mate.

Hmmmm

So yesterday, as means to ferret out whether I had a Mate3 program, Tech Support linked my secondary Mate3 to OpticsRE and my Radian system via MAC address. Currently the Radian system appears to be reporting OpticsRE via its original Mate3 just fine.
However, I want to return the secondary Mate3 to my FX system. Completely verified and changed settings for the FX side. If I go to Online OpticsRE, that system shows but Gateway is not online. Doubled checked connects and rebooted. Nada
So I went to add a new system and it says MAC address already in use, call Support.

Am I missing something? Anyway to get reconnected without playing phone tag?

TMK - the MAC address transfer has to be done on the "back end" by Support.
The only User method is to register it as a new system, losing all data previously associated with the Mate's MAC address.
