Ac In put light flashing and not selling power top grid

Post by J.Peterson424 »

Hi,

I recently bought a house with an outback mate 3 system and flexware converter. It was installed about six years ago and the prior owner didnt really know how it worked but told me it wasn't currently selling to the grid for some reason like its supposed to. I went through a lot of the online manuals and updated the firmware to most recent version, I went through and adjusted settings to GT modes but still no success as the main screen shows no power going to the grid. The current problem seems to be the AC input light is flashing yellow and I cant for the life of me figure it out. I am very novice in the world of solar power. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!
I'm a strictly off-grid user so my grid-tie advice is going to be limited. In general, however, starting out by following this post will help everyone help you: viewtopic.php?t=17533

The AC INPUT LED blinking indicates an AC source(grid, perhaps in this case) is attempting to connect to the AC IN terminals of the inverter, but the connection is not completing. This can be for a variety of reasons.

Setting up a system to "sell to the grid" has some technical aspects that are best left to a knowledgeable system integrator. On an older system, if the original installer isn't around to support it, its far more challenging to get someone to come in to do the work. (Most good integrators are busy, and are loathe to walk into an unknown quantity to make configuration changes as it can be very time-consuming.)

Do start by getting the details of your system published in your profile, and folks here will respond with whatever help as may be possible to offer.

What Raysun said is correct. I am grid tied and can maybe provide some insights to help you. Provide all of the details of your system components. A couple of good photos of the physical hardware would be nice too. Then we can start a dialog about your system settings and what you want to achieve.

I get an AC input light flashing when I have -intentionally- dropped my grid connection. I do that (manually) when there is heavy thunderstorm activity nearby. Could that have happened inadvertently? Press the "AC Input" button, the one with the blinking yellow LED, and take note of the "AC Input Mode" and the "AC Input State" status messages. They should, of course, show "Use" but likely do not - as you have described in the original post. Then press the "soft key" button "DISCON" which is supposed to show the reason for the last AC disconnect. That may provide some useful information. If the AC Input Mode is "DROP" you might just try the "USE" softkey button and see if that stops the flashing light - and transitions to "USE" mode (after a few seconds delay for the inverter to sync its frequency and phase with the grid AC before connecting to it).
As has been mentioned (in previous replies) the "Sell to Grid" state is only achieved when numerous (interacting!) modes and parameters and conditions are all satisfied. It is a process of elimination to resolve the potential failure culprits one by one. "Selling" obviously requires being connected to the grid. That is (as math textbooks often say...) a necessary, but not sufficient, condition. However, it is the first condition to resolve.

Hello -
Did you ever resolve the issue of the AC Input light flashing and not selling power to the grid?

We are having the same type of issue.
Our batteries are at 100%, we are grid-tied, our input priority is grid, load grid transfer is enabled, HBX is not enabled.

Right now the input mode is DROP LGX-LOAD and the Inverter AC Disconnection reason is Gen Low VAC, but our AC Input mode is not generator and there are no issues with the generator and no reason why the AC voltage can't be maintained.

Help. Thoughts? What other information might you need from me?
