FM 60 making noise

Post by Beechigby »

I have an FM 60 installed since 2012 that has 2280 PV watts on it. PV Voc is 132. The fan on the CC has failed, but it has another fan blowing air on it.
the CC is making an intermitent buzzing noise, tho it is still working. Any idesas?

The internal fan is situated to cool heat producing internal parts, using a ducted system to maximize airflow. Cooling externally may help keep the case cooler, but may be too inefficient to cool internal parts properly.

Some of these units give off an intermittent buzzing sound, and its considered normal. I don't know if that relates in this case, but am fairly confident that the failed internal fan will shorten service life, and should be replaced.

Now for the bad news. It's my understanding the fan in the FM60 is buried deep in the chassis and a good deal of disassembly is required to get at it.

yes, I know. thanks
I have replaced many FM 60 fans. It is usually just one of the 2 wires attched to the fan that falls off
