My current pet peeve

Post by Mike Curran »

I notice in many forum responses that the response includes the entire previous post, rather than just the part being responded to. This makes for extremely large posts for what could be easily condensed.

I'd like to suggest, instead of hitting the quote icon in the previous post and thus copying the entire post into your response, consider copying the relevant portion into your device clipboard, then hit the "Post reply" button, then hit the quote icon on the toolbar, then hit paste (control V). I know, not as easy to do, but do we really need to see the previous post, reposted? Especially when it's already lengthy?

Readers can easily refer back to the previous post if they need more context.

Okay, climbing down off my soapbox now.

Thanks for that. As one who also dislikes to "yellow sea" in quoted posts, I will work to develop the skill to keep them in bounds.
