GS-AC-Gen-Kit help

Post by Positive Power »

I’ve just installed the GS-AC-Gen-Kit GT Inverter isolation relay on one of my AC Coupled Systems. The relay itself is a mechanical contact type switch. The switch uses two sense wires hooked up to the 240volt Generator buss bars to activate it and disconnect the GT inverter to protect the generator. That said, my client’s generator only has 120volt output. I was assuming that the one hot leg would trigger it, but it does not seem to. Perhaps as there is no neutral or second Hot Leg energized it cannot complete the circuit. Does anybody have any experience getting this relay to work with a 120 volt generator?? Thanks in advance.

Off grid.
Originally installed with 1200 AH of FLA Locomotive batts.
Replaced after 9 years of service with 2 x 300 AH ReLion Lithium packs.
MUCH more efficient!!

A quick RTFM reveals the relay hooks across L1 and L2 in the load center, implying the relay coil is 240 vac rated...

I don't use a Radian, so can only ask. The manual specifies a split phase generator, which I assume means 240V split phase. Does a 120V single phase generator even work?
