Replacing MATE with AXS Port

Post by CharlieL »

I am replacing my MATE with an AXS Port so that I can remotely monitor with Optics RE.
My system includes a VFX2812 inverter and FLEXmax 60 charge controller, but no hub. The MATE is connected solely to the VFX2812.
Must I do any pre-programming of the AXS Port device before connecting it in place of my MATE? If yes, how?
If no, is installation completed by simply providing an ethernet cable to the AXS Port and then connecting via Optics RE?

I am asking this question because the user manual for the AXS Port states on pg. 3:

"This manual is intended for use by anyone required to install and operate this equipment. Operators must have software engineering knowledge and must be conversant in ANSI C programming and the Modbus protocol. SunSpec client software is required for operation."

Possibly. For the most part it is plug and go, but that is assuming that the default subnet address and DHCP settings for the AXS port do not require any adjustment to connect to your home network and the internet.

My information may be out of date, but I believe sometimes the default network subnet used by the AXS Port is different than most home routers. The IP address was originally set to a static value on the 192.168.0.0 subnet. If it expects to be on 192.168.0.0, and many consumer routers are on 192.168.1.0, they cannot talk to each other. To fix this you may need to change which subnet your local area network uses to be able to see the device.

If there are any settings that you changed on the Mate like schedules, timers etcetera, those will need to be reprogrammed once you have a connection to OpticsRE.

If you have any further questions, try reaching out to OutBack Support at https://www.outbackpower.com/resources/ ... rt-request. They may have a more guaranteed method of ensuring the device can connect to your network.

Thanks Bryce!

You are right, the AXS is shipped configured for a 192.168.0.0 subnet.
I will try to adjust my router accordingly. This seems simpler than diving into AXS programming.
