Purchasing AXS Port
I have the opportunity to purchase a new AXS Port for a reasonable price. Now my question is, with this gadget would i successfully be able to hook up to OpticsRe. Does it work as advertise. I have a flex power 2 with lithium batteries. If anyone could enlighten me on how this device work, thank you in advance.

There is a first generation Mate I use with wattplot.

Re: Purchasing AXS Port
Got it.
The AXS Port will indeed allow the system to connect to OpticsRE.
However, I'm not sure the AXS Port and the Mate can coexist in the same system.

Re: Purchasing AXS Port
I am aware they wont co exist. My concern is, does the axs port a good option. Its available at a great price. I have been wanting to connect to the OPTICS Re but couldnt stomach the cost and unstable connection of the Mate 3. Is there any hick ups or issue with this axs port I should be aware of. Thanks again.

Re: Purchasing AXS Port
Sorry, I'm a bit unclear on how to answer the question.
Are you planning on removing the Mate, installing the AXS Port, then configuring and controlling the system via WattPlot?
Or install the AXS Port, and configure/control via OpticsRE?
Or some combination of the two applications?
If so, then the issues are likely to be the ability of WattPlot to manage all the necessary functions. That would be best explored with Andrew, but he is no longer supporting the application.
Most all control functions are available via OpticsRE, unless of course, OpticsRE is not available. The latter usually occurs, inconveniently, during an outage event that might require system reconfiguration.
FWIW
The Mate3, while an obsolete model, continues to be supported, and the latest firmware updates have improved network connectivity. Better yet is the Mate3s, which has both improved hardware and software.

Re: Purchasing AXS Port
My plans are to remove Mate and wattplot on pc. Purchase AXS port to then utilize OPTIC RE.
Question is, could I control equipment as well as having the mate? Is it stable and does it works as advertise or am i purchasing a door stopper?
Thanks

Re: Purchasing AXS Port
The AXS Port should work OK for Optics. Though I know of nobody using it for that.
The main weakness in using Optics exclusively for system control would be a network outage between the LAN and the Optics server.
There may be a few settings Optics doesn't expose. Whether that would be an issue depends on the specific system configuration.
I'd keep the Mate in reserve in case a situation required local control.

Re: Purchasing AXS Port
Bear in mind the registers on the original Mate and those on the AXS Port may be different enough that switching between them could cause strange configuration (mis)settings on the system devices. Keep a good record of all the settings so that components can be set to rights quickly.
