Mate 3/s serial communications

Post by Kiwi »

Hi All,
In the "Guide To MATE3 Data Use" document, it refers to "MATE3 Serial Communications Guide" which is "available on the OutBack Power website".
I can find the "Mate Serial communications guide" which is for the Mate2 (which I have downloaded), but I can't find one for the Mate3.
If anyone knows where I could find it, or has a copy I could copy, that would be really much appreciated. It seems that there are changes in the spec between the Mate2 and Mate3

Thanks in advance. Kiwi.

The Mate3 provided serial communications via an accessory USB adapter. The PC based driver for it was hit-or-miss as to what operating system versions it would work with. I couldn't get it working with Windows 8 or 10 so abandoned it.

I do not believe the Mate3s is compatible with the USB adapter.

The Mate3/3s and AXS Port do provide a Sunspec/Modbus TCP interface.

Hi,

Thanks for reply.

I am using a mate3 (not s) with the data being broadcast over the TCP IP network. I can read it all ok, but I am not sure of what each of the columns in the FXR data are, as they are different from both the Mate2 serial comms data an dhte data examples given in the Mate3 programming guide.

So I was hoping there might be a Mate 3 serial data guide.

Ta. Kiwi.

I'm not sure, exactly, what data is being examined, but the Sunspec data is broadcast over TCP.

The Mate2 and 3 would likely have some different data blocks because the 3 has expanded capabilities.

I've not seen a Sunspec guide for the Mate, but there has been tables published for the AXS Port, and the two share functionality, AFIK.

The reference to the AXS Sunspec guide returns a 404 on the Outback site, but there's a version here: https://manualzz.com/doc/9462400/sunspe ... 72-kb-pdf-

Thanks for that link, but unfortunately, the ASX/SunSpec looks quite different to the Mate spec.

but I found the USB serial spec on that same site, and it looks like the output for the Radian FX matches what I am seeing for my FX-r, so I think I should be able to work from that.
My FXR device type is reporting 5, but a FX radian is 6, but I am prety sure I can use the mappings.
Thanks for your help.

Glad you found what you were looking for. I wasn't sure what data set you were trying to read.

The FXR uses the Radian data format. I have attached a copy of the specs.
