Mate3S, Upgrade from Mate

Post by DaimonV »

This should be an easy one. I have a system w/ two stacked VFX3648s for 240VAC output. I was confusing myself w/ the question. 'Max. Inverter kW' on the profile wizard systems settings. On the one hand. I think 3.6kW is right, since each inverter can only do up to 3.6kW. On the other hand, since they are stacked, it could be 30*240. Not sure what this is being used for. Of course, after going through the wizard, I went through the settings menus.....
Q: What is the proper Max. Inverter kW for a stacked ( split ) two inverter system? Thanks for the clarification anyone can provide.

It's the total of the two. Uses this number to scale the low meter bar on the Mate3s:

This may be an even easier question in upgrading from an old Mate3 to the Mate3s. Of course it will work immediately. What about history and all the stuff on the old Mate3 SD card? Wipe it? Is it useful?

If I you use Optics, if I understand correctly, you will have to register the new Mate3s as the MAC address will be different.
Information, you get not; if incorrect question, you ask..

Whatever you do, DON'T register the new Mate3s. You will lose all data from the old Mate3 (from the old MAC address actually). Contact tech support (or one of the red names on this forum) and ask them to update the database manually.

Thanks for the heads up. It was from a mate, so no problem w/ OpticsRE. But in the future.....

Ouch. You think the system would be smart enough to recognize the swap out of comm equipment (upgrade,) on an existing account, and at least offer you the choice of wiping the data or not. (Perhaps an archive option if swapping out older power gear for newer stuff?)

Not every system does everything, and last time I checked this system doesn't do that (without help.)

I suspect its the old trap of having intelligence coded into a key - using the MAC address as a primary index. I could be wrong, but the behavior is indicative of it.

On the upside, if thd new Mate is integrated in Optics by the "back end" folks, the integration and data continuity is seamless.

Wow, thx Raysun. Timely tip as the new 3s will be here by next Monday.

YW. Don't ask me how I learned this, but let's just say the "5 years including" view in OpticsRE is not a relevant selection for me yet.

I don't know that's the case. Rather, registering a new Mate to an existing account disconnects the old data. Had I raised a stink, I imagine some beleaguered IT guy would have been tasked with reconstructing records.

I just didn't care to have my picture on the wall with A-hole scrawled across it.
