FXR3048A Parallel output failure

Post by raysun »

I just had an odd issue with my new Flexpower Two - FXR3048A inverters.

They are configured as Parallel Stacked (120V, 6kW) and have been working smoothly since first initialized.

Tonight I noticed the house lights flicker when a 1.4kW load turned on. Checking the system, both inverters status was Inverting. However, the primary inverter was servicing the entire load. The secondary, while on, was idle. Looking at the statistics, the primary AC OUT = 120V, and the secondary AC OUT = 130V.

I power cycled the secondary inverter, twice, and on the second restart, it resumed normal behavior.

There were no relevant events in the log as to.what caused the abnormal operation.

I think is normal. I have my lights flickering every time a significant load starts. and in parallel stacking primary inverter should service the loads up to a certain %. the other inverters will stay idle until they are needed. maybe check the "slave power save level" value on the second inverter.

Actually, in this case, it wasn't normal. I've lived with flickering LED lights with our old FX3048T when a large load came on, and found it remarkable that the dual FXR3048As were free of this effect. The idle/active transition is quite seemless for the secondary inverter and occurs when the primary inverter reaches 12AAC out. The two inverters load share quite smoothly until output drops to 6AAC.

The flicker was a telltale here, and when I checked the system, the primary inverter was carrying a load of 14AAC @ 120V, and the secondary, indicated "Inverting" with 0AAC out @ 130V.

The secondary woke up from idle, but was not carrying any of the load.

Is there a setting where you can set when the second inverter to start sharing the load?
I have my radians right now in parallel stack and for a load of 3.4KW only the first one is inverting.

Not that I know of. The activation of the 2nd FXR inverter is documented, and occurs, at >= 12AAC. The inverter idles at <= 6AAC.
