Discussion about OutBacks "PS" enclosures

The BB is designed to handle up to 1000 amps (four 250 amp breakers or four 4/0 AWG cables). This is also the maximum current rating of the PSDC enclosure. The PS2DC enclosure is rated at a maximum of 500 amps and doesn't usually need a BB in it.auroraenergy wrote: Just checking on what the ampere rating is for the BB.
The TBB's rating is a little more confusing - the 185 amp rating is actually from one end to the other for carrying current - when you make the AC source connection in the middle it can carry twice that as the current can flow in two directions - so using it with 200 amp circuits is acceptable as long as some thought is used in layout the connections. I argued this with a number of UL inspectors over the years and always got them to approve it. 200 amps is the maximum rating on the PSAC and 100 amps for the PS2AC encloures.
