FXR2024E flashing red

Post by pjeffe »

I've got two FXR2024E inverters hooked up to a 24V string (6 x Rolls 4KS21PS), and one of them has a flashing red light. Unfortunately I don't have a MATE in the system. Is there any way I can diagnose what's causing it without one?

The manuals for the inverters will give an indication of possible error conditions. If you don't have them, they can be downloaded from here: https://www.outbackpower.com/resources- ... umentation

Two inverters in the system suggests they are parallel stacked to provide 2X power output. Once configured, the inverters will operate independently of the Mate, but it obviously would be useful to have one for situations like this.

A flashing red LED is a warning indicator. Likely causes are:
- low/high voltage
- low/high frequency
- input amps > max
- fan failure
- temps over spec

I would turn inverter off/on to reset and then monitor the above.

Thanks for the response, that's what's odd about it--since both inverters are hooked up in parallel on the DC side they should have the same voltage (which is right in range in any case). And their temperatures should be the same, unless that one is running hotter than the other. And the FXRs are sealed units, so I assume no fan? Unless there's an internal one.

You are correct on the FXR not having a fan. The low/high voltage and frequency is for the AC output. The "temps over spec" would be the internal components (transformer, FETS and/or capacitors) being too hot and not the ambient.
