When using a desulfator in conjuntion with the battery bank, is a equalizaton charge still required on a periodic basis.

The desulfator helps prevent harmful compounds from building up on the batteries plates. By reducing the buildup we slow down the aging of a battery bank.
As a battery is cycled the electrolyte, mostly distilled water & sulfuric acid, tends to settle to the bottom of the battery, so the lower portions of the plates see the highest concentration of acid resulting in that part of the battery having most of the storage capacity, while the upper portions containing mostly water, lowest concentration of acid, can & are reduced greatly. By equalizing the batteries, some call it stirring, the concentration of the electrolyte solution is redistribute through out the batteries thus restoring most of the batteries capacity.
