transfer relay speed spec?

Post by ericwahl »

Hi,
Is there some kind of standby-power-industry-spec for switching speed for the FX? Is the switching speed fast enough for residential computer loads? Is it "UPS grade" fast? For example a low-end APC unit is speced at 8ms "transfer time" or "blackout response time".

APC spec sheet

Thanks,
Eric

transfer relay speed spec?

The transfer time of the FX is 16ms max. Most computers are designed to withstand about 100ms of blackout. The FX is capable of switching 60 amps of current. This takes a much beefier relay than what you find in a computer UPS. If you check the specs on competing inverters you will find they are about 40ms. We put alot of effort into our transfer time design and are very pleased with the performance. It is very fast by inverter standards!
