Re: Charge LFP to 100% ?

@Raysun: "Another common charge profile incorporates two stages: Constant Current / Constant Voltage (Bulk / Absorb). Using Phi's early guide , the Constant Voltage target is 3.41Vpc (54.6V). Significantly below the 3.65Vpc maximim. This "low and slow" charge profile is undoubtedly th...

Re: Drawings and Parts List for System Quote

Use a Grundfos AC/DC well pump from the beginning. Or a soft start capable pump. You won't have to oversize the system to accommodate the start up surges. As for the rest of the system you need a full list of each and every powered device and the power needs. Then double it. Maybe triple. Describing...

Re: Big Feature Request Thread

Let's just grit our teeth and see what happens. Making a list of this 'n that only stirs the pot. Seriously, don't you think there are all kinds of lists that OB engineers have, and would act upon, if only they could? Maybe in this next corporate thing they will let creative minds loose. Personally ...

Re: Upcoming Optics 5.0 re-release: 02/28 6 PM Pacific (02:00 UTC)

Look at the other threads. I think most of us are all up and running. Reboot stuff, etc. Don't expect the missing data to backfill. I don't understand why the missing data wouldn't be backfilled from the SD card.... I'm growling about this whole thing. Not just the OpticsRE outage but yet another ow...

Re: OpticsRE connectivity Issues

What a hoot. At the exact same time this OpticsRE connectivity stuff came up, for the first time in two years my Starlink internet started to get intermittent. I opened a ticket with Starlink and they told me to either relocate the antenna or start butchering some trees. Now I have just pulled the i...

One of the curious things I have watched are people who comment on stuff where they don't live and things are completely different. And different degrees of understanding things like the difference of AC and DC and how to program a device when they have the documentation in front of them. The old Cl...

If you run them through the night instead of using the Grid, with normal conditions/load, where would the SOC be in the morning?

Re: Skybox does not maintain loads nor battery under full sun

So whether grid connected or not, once you achieve the full Bulk wouldn't you to expect to see the batteries fall back to the Float setting? And the Float parameter should be held with whatever loads are occuring within the capabilities of the panels to hold it there. If no Grid and you exceed the p...

Re: Solar Storm Prep?

Bulk at 54.5. Remote temp sensor is connected but compensation is set for 0.0V/deg F, so no compensation (nice that it's settable). I just want to know what the battery temperature is. OK, I had wondered about the RTS. I don't need to heat the batteries for low temp but I had looked into it after g...

Re: Solar Storm Prep?

After reading all these posts I disconnected grid from my systems and am running critical loads from batteries. Interesting observation, on Optics I observed my Skybox forcing the AC-coupled array to disconnect, to prevent overcharging my Simpliphi batteries. 3 screenshots, first one is with AC-cou...

Re: Solar Storm Prep?

Yes, I've heard of the Carrington event but thanks for the refresher via the link. It'll be interesting to see if our satellite TV (DirecTV) or internet (StarLink) is affected. The TV has signal has problems at times but more often its the provider. We have lost internet once in two+ years but that ...

System problems

Ya know, there just aren't any, darn it. So much has to do with what I have learned on this forum over the years. Our system certainly isn't the same as it started when I built it new 15 years ago. But we upgraded some things due to changing technology. It cost a few bucks to update the inverter whe...

Re: PV Array performance.

Yup. Confirmed. My original panels (15yo), half of which have cracks (not shattered) are doing quite well. When cool in clear conditions they still put out bunches of watts. Where they seem to suffer is in the heat on a day with little air movement. More so than in the past. But then there is little...
