Re: Starlink and OpticsRE
For those interested: Have had the new rev Starlink rectangular dish but was off line with OpticsRE from the beginning b/c it is wi-fi only. It took six weeks but got the adapter for an ethernet connection. Of course, Optics was the first to be tried. Plugged in the adapter and found a 10' cable to ...

Re: Solar array at Lāhainā Noon
Probably the same in many places? My batteries are often full by noon - at least full as I define full.
But in the winter I could triple my array and still have to run the generator for 2.5 months. It is what it is and where it is.

(I can't help myself from asking)
But how do you autostart and stop the Ford with the two wires? It could be worth researching for Cali folks if they can't buy a generator.

Re: SimpliPhi Full Charge and CPM
I've got to say, my little "cherry picked" BVM-700 (bought 4, tested all, kept 1) hits "CPM" with uncanny accuracy. Though 100% SoC and "CPM" are still co-incident factors, the number of times they reach agreement simultaneously (around 25% of the time) is uncanny. The...

Re: SimpliPhi Full Charge and CPM
Is the FNDC disconnected entirely...? The FNDC is gone. The original unit died. I ordered a replacement and it was defective. I didn't even attempt a support call - I just sent it back. Through all that the Victron works great. I don't miss the FNDC programming in the least. And the Mate3 green lig...

Re: SimpliPhi Full Charge and CPM
Now that two of the < CPM folks are back on the thread I'm keeping a low profile but I do still monitor 'cause I have a deep appreciation for y'all. I am still using backup generation but not so much as I come out of winter season and have more solar. So this to the subject: My EU7000is is down so ...

Warranty Replacement VFXR Control Board
It only took almost a month but I came home from the post office with the board. The box was good mostly good but did have some obvious rough handling. No crushing - just a side impact. I opened the box and removed the cushion wrap around the cardboard made to hold the replacement board. As I separa...

The last nail in the coffin is this from FEBURARY 9th . And I still haven't received the Control Board: Your Outback Technical Support Case#XXXXXXX has been updated with the RMA#XXXXXXXC. The following product must be returned once the advanced replacement is received per the warranty terms and cond...

I'm an OB Forum Emperor. Big whoopty do.
I will be transitioning my OB system to a different vendor as things ultimately fail and age out. I've had it. Best of fortune to y'all but I'm done.

Re: Here is a story, EU7000is
That is very disheartening. Also motivation to bite the bullet and look at the Kohler units, I guess. If you can't get replacement parts four years down the road then, yes, this is a major issue. Oh, but just my model. WTF is that? Its just and engine. It has an injector. It has a stepper motor for...

Re: Here is a story, EU7000is
I just saw a post from a small engine servicer. He was replying to a thread about the difficulty of buying new units and back orders for the EU7000is. He said the entire Honda generator line is having trouble with QC. Yeah, I had a major problem but it was mostly of my own making. I have to suck tha...

Re: How to calculate absorb and float time for generator charging AGM batteries
I have a FNDC. I also have a Fluke AC/DC clamp on. The FNDC is by far the most precise. But the clamp on works really good for individual circuits. One is not the replacement for the other.

Re: Here is a story, EU7000is
Replace the refrigerator. I grit my teeth on this. I know Honda has the infrastructure for spares. But the engine is a wildly successful unit and its base is in a bunch of equipment. But only this sub version is in the generator and is injected. That means a whole bunch of stuff, electronics throug...

Re: Here is a story, EU7000is
From a Honda servicer, nation wide and a huge parts provider: "Yeah they said it was only that model. I feel like it might be repairable but I don't really know what is wrong with it and I don't work on them. By the time you get it inspected and quoted it might end up not being worth it. I am s...

Here is a story, EU7000is
Gosh that unit worked well. After 3.5 years then I had a malfunctioning fuel system - I was getting gas into the crankcase. It diluted the oil. I changed the oil regularly awaiting fuel injector. Before it got to me I had a mess. It siezed. Stuck. Why? The low oil sensor failed 2 years ago. I had to...

Re: How to calculate absorb and float time for generator charging
Aw, darn, they are AGM (sealed) batteries. Please completely disregard my post with regard to SGs and absorbing them. I have never used a sealed battery except in our Gator and I replaced that with a flooded battery when the time came as I don't plan on rolling it down into the canyon. If I do I'm n...

Re: How to calculate absorb and float time for generator charging
You haven't specified the model of Rolls batteries being used but the answer is to start with the Data Sheet for that battery. Then you dial in the time by measuring the Specific Gravity of the electrolyte until you achieve the full charge in the data sheet. For healthy FLA batteries 2.5 hours would...

Re: Generator not stopping. Not charging.
One other note, there is an SD card half inserted into my mate. I can recall at times accidentally pushing it in, then out. Is it possible that some config got reinmstalled to Mate3 via the SD card insertion? Shoudl I remove and melt the SD card? IF the SD is a backup, how do I rewrite to get the s...

Re: Ethernet to WiFi adapter
It looks like your adapter is designed to receive a wi-fi LAN signal and convert it into a wired output. It doesn't look like a typical wireless router that generates a wireless output. If your Starlink device has a wired ethernet port then you need a wi-fi router to create wifi for your house. You...

Re: Generator not stopping. Not charging.
I'm glad you got success. I got hung up looking for the troubleshooting thread from years ago when I was having trouble with AGS and was advised to use the VFX, the inverter (the long box without a display, only lights, instead of the FM80). There were several of those threads and I can't find the o...

Re: Generator not stopping. Not charging.
Move your AGS to the inverter as an experiment, if the port is open. The FM is a wonderful unit but a long time ago I went with the inverter for the AGS. It solved the issue at the time. Seems it was the same problem....

Solar strings
When was the last time you went out and checked the solar strings for your combiner. In full sun. They should be pretty much be the same, yes? Kill all but one circuit and measure voltage. Then another. Then another. But voltage doesn't necessarily do it. Can you measure Amps from the strings? They ...
