Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Just before the CPM entry, the event log shows charging going from Absorb to Bulk, that's typically because the chargers can't hold the Absorb voltage. Is that the case here? No. The shift to bulk occurs as a result of the charge controllers being in grid tied mode. When CPs are met, the inverters ...

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Update: Back to normal, selling to grid following CPM. Note I changed the FNDC absorb time to 10 minutes, all other devices are set for 1 hour, which is probably too short if I have an extended grid outage. Anyway, from event history it appears the system used the FNDC absorb time - absorb started a...

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Well, it's been cloudy today so took a good long while to meet charge parameters, but finally did at 1447. Unfortunately system subsequently went into pass thru mode (loads fed from grid thru inverters and both charge controllers in float, as shown below.) Note I tried forcing a bulk charge and PV p...

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

After completing a charge cycle, Rebulk will subtract 1 minute from Absorb Time for every minute the battery is above the Rebulk voltage. It adds 1 munute to Absorb Time for every minute the battery is below Rebulk voltage. So if I set rebulk too low (e.g., after an overnight outage my battery ends...

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Rebulk on the GVFXs is fixed at 25.0V. My system never went below 25.2V overnight, nor did it ever hit rebulk during the day.

Current rebulk on VFXRs is set for 24.0V.

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

That big Rolls battery was probably fine with a long Absorb Time even though it likely wasn't needed. Using the target ending amps will probably result in two changes, a shorter actual Absorb phase, and less periodic water replacement. Funny, I've been operating for years (GVFX until late 2020) wit...

Re: sulfation?

That grey stuff at the bottom could also be lead that's been shed from the plates over time. Happens more if batteries are overcharged. No way to get it back where it came from. In the electrolyte itself, no idea what that is.

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Incidental question: Mate shows about 45 minutes remaining absorb time, but battery charging amps are down to 11 or so. FNDC end amps is set for 35A. Why doesn't absorb stop? Battery charging is way below the end amps setpoint...

Went into absorb right away (battery already at 100% SOC). Waiting to see what happens when absorb stops.

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

@fcwlp: I disabled Auto Grid-tie control yesterday and today my system went into bulk, then absorb, then charge parameters were met at 11:45. Inverters went into pass-thru mode and one of the FM80s is silent, the other is in float. No selling, even though on the Mate inverter screen the arrow is poin...

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Mike, do you have "Auto Grid Tie Control" enabled on the Mate3s "Global Charge" tab? If so disable. Yes. I'll try disabling, but never had an issue before - but I seldom cycle my battery either. Edit: But the Mate3s manual describes this function thus: "Enable Auto Grid-Tie...

Re: Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

That's a vexing puzzler to be sure. Of course, here "Off Grid" = "No clue". I've always puzzled over the complexities of inverter charging. Is this somehow the continuation of a prior partial charge that the inverter is trying to complete with the added factor of Selling layered...

Not selling, & inverter status says "SellRE"

Yesterday I shut off the grid supply to cycle my battery overnight. This morning at 1055am, 76% SOC and 1.235 SG, I reconnected the grid and my system went into bulk normally. According to event history it reached absorb voltage at 1206 pm, then reverted back to bulk at 1214 pm, as if it had met cha...

Re: VFX3024E & MATE3/3S compatibility question

I had a pair of circa 2007 GVFXs and I'm pretty sure the firmware is not field upgradeable, and maybe not upgradeable at all. There is no mention of the word "firmware" in either the FX install manual or the programming manual.

Re: SkyBox charging parameters for LiFePO4 Battery

For those using the Skybox Off Grid, I would expect the Skybox to charge from solar.
I'm grid tied, and mine also charges from solar at first light, just like an off grid system. The only way it will use the grid to charge is if voltage falls to the rebulk setpoint.

Re: SkyBox charging parameters for LiFePO4 Battery

Absorb (constant voltage) by definition can only happen at the end of Bulk (constant current) Okay then, my system starts in bulk at sunup and stops charging when it reaches end amps (or absorb time, not sure which, for me that's 10 minutes) during the absorb phase. Rebulk is a setting not a form o...

In this thread https://forum.outbackpower.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=16471&hilit=Skybox, PhotonKapture says I use Skybox off grid. It initiates charge as soon as there is enough solar first thing in the morning, every day, regardless of battery voltage. Now, he's off grid, but I wouldn't think...

Re: SkyBox charging parameters for LiFePO4 Battery

Are you guys saying you don't get an absorb until rebulk is reached? My system is also set up as net metering with backup, and it does an absorb cycle every day using solar, when the sun comes out. And when it does, it's nowhere near the rebulk setpoint of 51V. :?: Screenshot_20210909-154714_Samsung...

Re: Backcountry independent grid

Edited to rethink my answer... Okay, trying again. I think you can only feed in one direction. So if your FX is the grid feeding the Radian, if the "grid" goes down, the Radian will disconnect from it, by design. If you wanted to go with this setup anyway I think you'd need to split...

I have never done a specific gravity test, I could look up how to do it online. I would not have near the level of apprec...
