Re: Windmill

It makes my pedantic skin crawl when someone refers to wind turbines as "windmills".
Give JR a break. The black thingy in the middle is a windmill. All the others are wind turbines.

Yeah, they did promise a tool to decipher those codes awhile back. OCP has gotta be overcurrent protection. Sorry I can't be more help.

Re: Fault code under maximum independence

I'm pretty sure the "UVP" in the code refers to undervoltage protection. Could your battery have had a low voltage excursion? If you haven't done this already, reboot everything - disconnect from grid, shut off loads and battery, then reconnect everything. Sometimes going through the power...

Re: SOC Not Correct

Assuming there's a flexnet DC (FNDC) in your system, to get an accurate SOC measurement you must first fully charge your battery (specific gravity is a good indicator if your batteries are FLA's; follow your battery manufacturer's guidelines to get a full charge), then unplug your FNDC LAN cable fro...

Re: OpticRE Radian GS8048a Output Leg 1 kWh

Hi Stephane - If all your active loads are on leg 2 then that might explain why only leg 2 sees power output. I'm assuming you're grid-tied with battery backup and your Radian supplies an essential loads panel. Is that correct? If so you might want to look at which loads are on each leg. If leg 2 ha...

Re: Meter Change

Where I live in Ohio you have to apply for a net metering permit to connect your PV output to the grid. The utility uses your inverter's power rating to assess your potential feed-in, so they have it on record. In my case, my first install was only 1.44kw but with 2 GVFX3624's, they way over-estimat...

Just from perusing the manual, I don't think a Skybox can do what you're looking for. Take a look yourself (p. 25-31 especially), maybe you'll see something I missed. https://outbackpower.com/downloads/docu ... rg_web.pdf

Re: microgrid w/ distributed solar/wind/battery?

most of what I've seen relies on the Grid providing sync. The Radian AC output simulates a grid. When/if the Radian-grid goes down, any AC-coupled inverters go into battery backup mode to support their individual loads. In the original concept of having PV on every rooftop, it would involve running...

Re: microgrid w/ distributed solar/wind/battery?

I like the idea of a grid-tie inverter at each cabin, AC-coupled to your central inverter, because each cabin's output can contribute to the others' loads when needed. It can get expensive compared to Raysun's preferred setup since you'd need a charge controller, batteries and inverter at each cabin...

Per the Radian manual, "... the inverter draws up to (my emphasis) 1 Aac regardless of the DC sources." (in grid zero mode) It also says "For the Radian inverter, the high battery cut-out voltage is 68 volts. It cannot be changed." Link to manual: https://outbackpower.com/downloa...

Re: I'm not sure if my gadget correctly records the energy

Need some clarity in the numbers you are citing: I’m not sure my utility is recording the energy that I am sending back to them correctly. I had usage of -24 kw hours and 528 banked kw for the month. Are these from last year? And is that minus (-)24kwh of use, or just 24kwh? This past May 2021 they ...

That inverter has a default frequency of 50 Hz. You'll need to reset it to 60Hz. You'll need a Mate3 or 3s to do that.

Now the Mate3s doesn't even see the card. Tried again with folders, ...

Similar issue: I'm finally getting around to updating from 1.4.2 to 1.4.6. But my Mate3s insists "M3s.bin not found on SD-Card".
This screenshot from my PC obviously shows it's on the card:

Re: AUX terminals during a RSD

Tigo offers a "shutdown only" option (https://www.tigoenergy.com/product/ts4-a-f) which, IIUC, will not interfere with Skybox's arc fault sensing - it has no mppt function. If that's the reason the AHJ requires what the OP is calling MLPE then it can easily be gotten around, although it wo...

Thanks Ea6le, I stand corrected. The install manual says the Master must be in Port 1 and slaves in Port 2 or higher. @Luislaac, the section on stacking in the install manual (around p. 40) may be helpful: https://www.outbackpower.com/downloads/documents/inverter_chargers/radian_8048a_4048a/gs_8048a...

Those modes sound right, but make sure your Master is plugged into port 1, slave into port 7. What firmware version is your Mate running? Latest is 1.4.6, I think.

What you want to do sounds like a perfect application for Outback's HBX function. Unfortunately, if you don't have a Mate in your system, it cannot be used.

Here's a video about how it works. Not sure how your Midnite CC would affect HBX.

Recycling PV panels (or how not to?)

In 2019 I received a shipment of 30 PV panels, 28 of which I installed on my barn roof. One of the original 30 panels was damaged in shipment (see photo) and subsequently replaced by my supplier. Meanwhile, I've been stuck with that one shattered panel for going on two years... 20190719_162712~3.jpg...
