Re: Flickering lights and swinging voltage on outback radian 8048

If your friend is operating his system in grid-tied mode then his loads (lights, etc.) should be running off grid power, not from the battery. How is his system set up to operate?

Re: Skybox AC coupled off grid or grid outage behavior

My Skybox system is set up for AC-coupled charging (and load support) during outages but I have not had an extended grid outage to see how Skybox and my older Enphase microinverters behave together. FWIW - 2 cents, maybe

System offline - strange error after multiple screen refreshes

This morning at 0911 Optics for my garage system went offline. The barn system Optics was still working. I tried rebooting the Mate3s several times, replaced the LAN cable from ethernet switch, tried different ports on the switch, verified the switch is working by observing the Tigo system was still...

Re: In need of immediate help, Radian stopped working

Joe - Sounds like you've done this already but make sure the breakers are fully shut off before trying to turn them on. I don't know about those 175A DC breakers but some breakers trip to an intermediate, in between position, and must be fully shut off before they can be reset to the ON position. Of...

Thanks. Jeff's was even better, and if he weren't constrained by being off grid he could've made more and sold it to grid. Gotta say I'm impressed when an off-gridder can charge his EV as well.

Good day here as well. 17.8kwh from my 3.2kw system, 900wh of which reclaimed due to optimizers.

Not likely. You're better off just making the swap. That's what I did. Form factors are the same.

Looking at the GSLC installation manual (https://outbackpower.com/downloads/docu ... nstall.pdf) it appears Outback supplies the necessary hardware to do this:

No, when my AC coupled array contributes to grid sell, there's no indication of the amount it's contributing, as shown from this screenshot today (it's cloudy): Screenshot_20220427-153524_Samsung Internet.jpg Also note the summary shows 0 kwh for solar when it should be > 0. I'd be happy if Skybox's current functionality were completely realized. Things like working email alerts (I don't get an alert when grid is lost - see https://forum.outbackpower.com/viewtopic.php?t=16945&hilit=Skybox - OB turned the issue over to Engineering in January and it's still not workin...

Re: Gvfx grid use

Going back to the firmware issue, since grid use is controlled from the Mate, I wonder if not having the latest firmware there could be causing the problem? Seems unlikely since it looks like you have the functionality for grid use...

Re: Gvfx grid use

You know this gvfx has worked fine for years so I’ve never bothered with any firmware updates.
No worries, the GVFX firmware isn't field upgradable. Anyway, I doubt that's the reason your grid use isn't working.

I tried setting it up with my VFXRs and it worked, but not sure if that means anything to your GVFXs. I am also grid-tied and set up to sell to grid.

Re: Gvfx grid use

I hate to ask this, but you do have a separate Mate3 for each inverter (GVFX & Radian), right? Because they can't share one. I've never used the grid use function but from what I've read, the secret is in programming the times properly. Can you show us your Mate3 screen with the times displayed?

FWIW, my legacy Tigo app reports power in watts DC at the PV panels, which can be significantly higher than what you see being exported to grid through OpticsRE..

Re: Mid-day dip in to-grid power?

And is it feasible to overcome this by bumping up the grid upper voltage limit a bit (currently set at 140 V)? That setting is just for the allowable voltage that you will permit your inverter to pass through to your loads. Increasing it will not boost the output. You have an interesting theory. Wh...

Re: Inverter will not turn on

I can't help wondering about systems that were running fine and then all of a sudden behave abnormally, whether there was some other event that caused the behavior. Can either of the system owners with this problem shed light on anything that happened before the abnormal behavior? Because in my expe...

Re: My system stopped charging from the AC connect

As I mentioned before, the batteries do charge from the panels. And the inverter is capable of producing AC output. But when the AC connect switch is open the fan does not come on . The system aborts the connection and then repeatedly tries again to connect but fails at the moment the fan should co...

Re: Are My Batteries Shot?

Here's the specs
20220420_120613.jpg
They don't list a max discharge current, but a 2Kw load is about 80A, close to the listed max charging amps. But his battery is only good for 2.5 hours at that rate assuming max 50% DOD (someone check my numbers please! ).

Edited - for 24 volt battery

Additionally, a new time zone was added for Morocco Standard Time that was previously missing for the city of Casablanca.
Hopefully this will help Rick Blaine and Louis Renault get their system times set correctly.

Re: My system stopped charging from the AC connect

When you say "AC" I assume you mean grid. If so, my garage system may be similar to yours. For mine, my inverter will not use the grid to charge unless the battery reaches the refloat or rebulk voltage setpoint(s). It's normal for mine to use my PV to charge the battery every day (I'm grid...
