Re: 3.85kw array making 4.88kw!

You can also look at dropping the max output from the FM charge controller(s) by limiting their output to 1amp less than their maximum. It will still allow brief over amp excursions but not any sustained ones. Could this help prevent the charge controller breaker from tripping? We have a 4kW array,...

Floating!

First time in 2 months, batteries are back to full charge and the heat pump water heater is getting cranked up for HOT showers! December is consistently the worst month for solar, also exacerbated by our tree line (surveyor + logger are scheduled in the spring, to cut back to the property line). It'...

I can't remember the details, but recall having a few discussions with our installer and making a couple calls to Outback, and finally everyone basically decided it would be bette...

Re: SimpliPhi battery storage over time

Interested to hear what the outcome may have been! I have a similar setup, 4 older 3.4 model and 2 newer 3.8, in use 3 years (older ones) and one year (newer ones). At our installer and Outback recommendation we stopped using the FNDC a year and a half ago because it was confusing the tenant, we're ...

Re: Panels in the Winter

We have used a Snow Pro last 3 years and works fine, but wouldn't do as well in a foot plus of snow!

New to forum, 3 year old off grid system

New to the forum, have an off grid system in our home in Maine that was installed in 2018 and has been working pretty well for past few years. We are living in Switzerland as expats currently, but returning home in the spring. Looking for any advice to improve or optimize the system, big ones especi...
