Re: Where to list new, open box Mate 2 for sale?

Hello Ray - Vendor (Stella V) will not accept open boxes under any circumstances. I do have it listed on eBay where I was able to sell the open box FNDC, yet no action on the Mate 2. Perhaps is due to potential buyers' preference for a Mate 3 despite its added cost....?

Where to list new, open box Mate 2 for sale?

Good Morning - other than eBay, might anyone know of any other site(s) where I could list for sale a new, yet open box Mate 2 purchased last month hoping to be able to use it, along with an FN-DC, in a motorhome application but could not? (box was opened in order to read manual - unit was never ener...

Re: No Success w/ FNDC Install in 2006 Motorhome

This was a really specific and specialized topic. I appreciate your rolling lifestyle though. We are quite the opposite. Some say we are locked in and maybe we are (and its probably by design/preference). Last weekend we had 5" of slush that mostly froze and another 6" of winter mix turne...

... a shunt cannot be added "in-line" to measure alternator current. Sorry it didn't work for you, but I'm not sure about your statement above. A quick Google search turned up this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f14/alternator-shunt-and-meter-153849.html where several people s...

No Success w/ FNDC Install in 2006 Motorhome

I am posting this in hopes of helping someone in the event another motorhome owner researches trying to find someone who has successfully added a FlexNet FN-DC to their motorhome equipped with Outback VFX inverter chargers. Well... it was not me, and not for a lack of effort, excellent & detaile...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

I thought of a couple of Rube Goldberg schemes to get a proper charge onto the battery while using the alternator, but I'm not sure they are anything more than fodder for the back of a used cocktail napkin. Had to google Rube Goldberg - LOVE IT!!! :) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg_mach...

Edited my post above to emphasize I think I will almost never in my rv application have a routine of significant discharges for the FNDC to analyze... Going pedestal to pedestal or using the genset, we will never likely discharge to 50%.....?

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

Like I mentioned, the timing is ironic. Never too late to start. My Dad had tray with a worn out straight blade and philips screw driver and and slip joint pliers. Also a hammer. All inherited from his Dad, my GPa. To this day I think he took pride saying he was not technical. He didn't want to do ...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

About the alternator, it will be interesting to see its impact. Hope the FNDC can "see" its impact and let us know. In marine applications, do you recall the FNDC ever used when an engine driven alternator was used in the system? Still makes me wonder why my rv manufacturer did not incorp...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

I even googled Peukert's law after you mentioned it! The timing of this post is amazing. Just this morning the DW and I had a stern conversation - a repeat of the same in the past. She was raised in parochial schools with an emphasis in scholastics. She continued that into two BS and a Masters. And...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

It would be interesting to know what the Battery Watchdog is, and how it fits into managing an AGM battery. I'm still a bit unsettled how the alternator charging is going to impact the battery, but that may be my ignorance of solutions out there. I know two things about the "Battery Watchdog&q...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

I don't mind the questions. In fact I spend a lot of time on this forum answering questions for a selfish reason - its how I choose to learn. I am a believer in experience being the best teacher, and for me, its infinitely better when its someone else's experience. My typical style is to learn by b...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

LOL! I'll say you are nothing if not thorough! Without going into too many details (I haven't so much as had a sip of coffee yet) I can safely say the vast majority (such as - all) of the ADV settings can be left at their defaults and ignored. They don't apply to your situation. TBH, there's *maybe...

No Bueno. 🤨 Is the screen cracked too? I'm sure they will replace it. Hello Raysun - just inspected the shunt and observed the top "fin" was bent during the manufacturing process. I just submitted a request to Stella V requesting a replacement for it in addition to the Mate2. Am I overly ...

It depends. At any rate there's no method to solve problems that don't exist. Unless and until one crops up, the best we can do is solve the last one. Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

The bottom line, is to avoid stray voltages from being impressed on the sense line. Careful routing will be key. Within that electrical area, there are also controllers and wiring harnesses that go to the engine and transmission, which I would "think" would at times send various signals. ...

Regarding the FNDC mounting. Where is the Mate mounted now? Can the FNDC be mounted there as well? (Its sense leads can be routed with the Mate's Cat5 cable.) ...the shunts are not actually mounted near the battery, as it doesn't exist when the panel is wired, but at the "far end" of the ...

Re: Correct Settings in Motorhome Application?

Mate-resident data. Glutton for punishment? 😉 Skimming the manuals can't hurt. The twisted pair sense leads carry a millivolt signal from the shunt, so should be routed away from any "electrically noisy" wiring or equipment. Good Morning Raysun :) Glutton for punishment? ABSOLUTELY!!! ha ...
