Re: Producing 8230 watts, but batteries can only handle 120amps
I thought I would update this in case it is helpful to anyone in the future. I limited the overall amperage on the charge controllers to the spec-recommended 120 amps combined total. However I noticed that even so there was gassing and the batteries got quite hot. Since they are almost 3.5 years old...

Re: Producing 8230 watts, but batteries can only handle 120amps
Great point! My array is rated at 4990w but tends to deliver more on the range of 3600-4200 except on rare occasions. 6000w would rarely leave much power on the table, it would only protect the batteries. Hadnt thought of that! Ok, plan set! You all are awesome. Thank you so much for helping me thin...

Re: Producing 8230 watts, but batteries can only handle 120amps
Thanks. This I think is what I will do. Manually setting their combined amps to <= 120amps will help me get the most out of the panels while not risking my batteries.

Re: Producing 8230 watts, but batteries can only handle 120amps
Thanks everyone! My concern was not so much the charge controllers. We will split the panels so they won't go over their max amps. It was more for the batteries. I imagine a scenario where all three controllers are charging the batteries in BULK, so that there is no limiting of amperage, and the bat...

Producing 8230 watts, but batteries can only handle 120amps
I have 16 outback 106ah nano carbon batteries. These are in 4 strings of 4 batteries at 48v. I currently have a system that can produce 4990w (or 104amps at 48v). I'd like to expand this and the engineer who does all my solar work says that its possible. I want to upgrade to a system producing 8230w...

Re: In Ac Voltage too high
My radian does not have the bypass switch you described. Is there a way to do it in the mate 3? I need the ability to sometimes just use the grid even if it wants to disconnect due to "vac high instant". I dont understand why it says vac high instant or how to fix this. I live in Nicaragua...

Re: In Ac Voltage too high
It is doing it again. When I hit AC INPUT; DISCON it said "N" to everything except VAC HIGH INSTANT "Y". Is there a way to simply force the system to connect only to the grid no matter what? If I turn off the inverter, it won't just switch to AC INPUT - it delivers no power inste...

Re: In Ac Voltage too high
Well nuts. For a few days this seemed to work. I checked it multiple times and it would stay connected to the grid even though it hovered 250-254V. But tonight it is connecting and disconnecting every time the grid crosses 250V even though I have it set for 140V/280V. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Re: In Ac Voltage too high
Thank you. I updated the firmware. Anything else I should do, or is it time to sit back and see if it works?

Re: In Ac Voltage too high
Thank you so much for the reply. I saw this setting and raised it to the max, but it still disconnects from the grid anytime the grid is over 250V. The setting seemed strange to me as the highest I could set it was 140V. For instance, right now the grid is at 254V and my batteries are quite low (45....

In Ac Voltage too high
Is there a way to adjust the maximum ac input voltage from the grid in mate 3? It seems to be set at 250V as that is when my system disconnects from the grid and gives me an ac input voltage too high error. I live in Nicaragua and the voltage here can be quite volatile. I dont mind upping the voltag...

Re: Performance of Nano Carbon Batteries
I was looking at this, and realized the datasheets for these batteries wouldn't make any sense if they were only charged to maximum 80% SoC and never back up to 100%. If that were the case what do the 10% and 20% DoD bars mean in these datasheets? Is that data observed or just extrapolated? If obser...

Re: Performance of Nano Carbon Batteries
So, to make sure I understand correctly: I am better off not letting these batteries get fully charged every day. I am worse off if I do let them fully charge every day.

Performance of Nano Carbon Batteries
Hello all, I've seen lots of data about how well nano carbon batteries perform if they only receive a freshening charge 1-2 times a month and operate at 50%-80% SOC. How many more cycles will these batteries give if charged up every single day? Will the difference be significant or negligible? Thank...

Overload Radian 4048a?
I have a Radian 4048a inverter in HBX mode with grid access. I am curious what happens if I accidentally overload this inverter. Say I put a 5000w load on it for a minute (I don't intend to do this, but I might goof up one day and I want to be prepared). Will it be damaged or will it shut itself off...
