Re: GS-AC-Gen-Kit help

That said, my client’s generator only has 120volt output.
I don't use a Radian, so can only ask. The manual specifies a split phase generator, which I assume means 240V split phase. Does a 120V single phase generator even work?

Re: Cloud Edge effect (diffused light)

Heh! Sounds like here, frequently.

When the sun busts through, like today, the insolation is brutal.

PV negative temperature coefficient? Its a benefit here, otherwise we'd need to figure radiation shielding. Those fancy sensors? Can they be calibrated for "surface of the sun" range?

Re: "Blind" system

The Hub sounds like the first suspect. The inverters and charge controllers are plugged into the Hub, but they don't need it to operate. Note if there are any lights on the Hub. Unplug everything from the Hub (noting which cable is in which Hub port.) Plug the Mate's Outback (Hub) port directly into...

Re: Guess how many times my generator comes on

Hi Jim! STFU. 😆😆😆 Seriously @pioneerman we're on your side. A bad battery is everyone's nightmare. In answer to your question. Its not out of the realm of possibility that the entire battery is bad. The pessimist in me says its entirely likely. When cells in a battery die, they don't die alone. Unfo...

" If we can’t find a sweet spot in Search, we can always turn off the inverter at night and while gone." The challenge I found is Search is TOO programmable. 😉 Trying to balance Sensitivity, Pulse Length and Pulse Spacing was a fiddly exercise that tried my patience, and since we were just...

This guy keeps coming up in You Tube. I hate 99.9% of the videos up there and rarely watch any, but at least this guy speaks rationally about Lithium (and lately especially LiFePo4) battery builds. This is a pretty good intro build video: https://youtu.be/zStEtH9Le-w I'm pretty sure Phi uses 18650 o...

New 18650 capacity record (maybe)

"There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip" and nowhere is this truer than battery development. But in a hopefully hopeful development: https://electrek.co/2021/06/10/egeb-nanograf-achieves-28-longer-run-time-in-a-18650-li-ion-cell/ U.S.A. designed and planned for on-shore manufacture.

LOL! I feel that sharp elbow. In the delicate balance of marital accord, I too was the receiver of very sharp "wakeup nudges" when the Operational Level Agreement was not meeting expectations. Other partnerships are more tolerant, I'm given to understand. The FXR class inverters' full idle...

Or pitch the mess, go to 48v and update your inverter..
Starting with a more efficient inverter / battery infrastructure would make a big difference.

Anyway, doesn't your jurisdiction have a similar net metering permit process? The question refers to the State and County of Hawaii, right? 😁 Like most every 3rd World country of the modern era, we have every rule, regulation, burocracy and agency one could imagine. One would also need to imagine t...

Heh! Go from Hawaii Island to Utah, and leave my ultra-clean lithium battery setup to muck around with lead-acid? Re: Guess how many times my generator comes on

Actually, a "high resolution" Specific Gravity test isn't absolutely necessary. That's helpful for keeping a healthy battery healthy, but its a good bet these battery blocks aren't that. A simple voltage test, under the right conditions, will tell enough of a story. Start by disconnecting ...

I've no experience with this battery, but ran very similar EUROBAT designs with similar VRLA/AGM lead-carbon architecture for about 5 years. One characteristic I noticed is they run great, until they fail catastrophically. You may wish to try a "rejuvenation" charge, but to have one monobl...

Are the panel model and specs available?

The back of most solar panels has a foil label stating the panel specifications.

Also, how is the array wired?

Re: Solar array max for flexmax80

The FM80 is rated at 80A charging current, so the maximum PV array for a 48V battery is 80A x 48V = 3840W. The 12 300W PV panels fit comfortably within this limit. The other rated maximum for the FM80 is 150V array voltage. If the panels are rated at V(oc) ~ 27V then 4 panels could be wired in serie...

I couldn't find any data on the cells used in a Phi, but since its referred to as a 16S battery, it pretty much implies cylindrical cells.

There was passing mention of the BMS doing cell balancing, but not the method.

I'm not a Skybox user so can't answer past what I've read in the documents and on this forum. I don't quite understand how Demand Response would work in the scenario of the original post. Is the power company asking you to backfeed to the grid, at the same time loads on the same side of the meter as...
