Re: Load Grid Transfer safe to use?

Welcome to the forum. I'm strictly off-grid, so can only offer limited help when it comes to the grid-interactive features. Others will have better input on that. Looking at the use case (large demand when battery is at limited capacity) does bring up a couple of issues to consider: • The battery is...

Re: How do I stop rebulk?

If you take a close look at the picture captioned "Hardware calibration in FM controller", the blue screwdriver points to the trim pot.

Re: CC_mode in Dev_Status.cgi

The Mate web app and dev_status.cgi both predate Optics RE.
AFIK, there have been no changes in more than the past half-dozen years. Its not likely there will be in the future.
There is a more comprehensive API available using the Sunspec protocol and Modbus interface.

Re: How do I stop rebulk?

Hardware calibration is fairly straight-forward. The trim pot that needs "trimming" is easy to reach. Here's details: https://forum.outbackpower.com/viewtopic.php?t=15400 The fact that a controller goes completely to sleep, and its random which may do so suggests something else may also be...

Re: upgrade Mate 3 to Mate 3s

I'd recommend the inverters be assigned: Port 1: L1 Phase Master (the primary inverter) Port 2: L2 Phase Master Port 3: L1 Slave Port 4: L2 Slave Port 8: FM80 Port 9 FM60 The main reasoning behind the assignments is ease of sorting functions: Inverter Masters Inverter Slaves A gap in cables Charge C...

Re: How do I stop rebulk?

Screenshot_20220523-061916_Firefox.jpg Our FM80s spend most of the solar day in float. Here, charging completed at 10:59, and float engaged at 11:22AM. There can be minor differences in delivered current from the two arrays/controllers, but both stay active until sun declines. Occasionally, one con...

Re: How do I stop rebulk?

My experience with two FM80s operating concurrently has been when calibrated to read the same voltage, both contribute charge current during float. Its a bit difficult to achieve, as mentioned, the FM voltage readout is in 0.1V increments, though its responses to voltage appear to be < 0.1V. I gener...

Re: How do I stop rebulk?

There's two likely ways to address this: • Extremely accurate calibration of the FlexMax voltmeters so they read identically. This is tricky, and takes some real finicky adjustments, but can be done. • Enable Float Coordination on the Mate Global Charge menu. This will force all controllers into Flo...

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

OK.

I'd suggest charging the two battery blocks separately to the same voltage, then recombining them.

Does there happen to be an ON/OFF switch on the battery blocks?

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

LiFePo4 cells are very low impedance (its why they need a BMS to act as "traffic cop"). Very minor differences in voltage make a very big difference in cell capacity. The leads need to be identical between the battery terminals and the battery bus bar (in your case the inverter battery ter...

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

How are the two connected? It would be best for each to be connected to discrete terminals on a battery bus bar using identical cables. Can you post photos of the battery connections? That being said, it is unusual for "downstream" blocks to be charging/discharging fastest. Some testing is...

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

GCC is not "Swiss Watch" precise. It will overshoot at times. However it hasn't been my experience that it automatically compensates for load. Then again, I only have my own system to go by.

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

50A is a trivial increase as far as battery longevity is concerned. A good place to start. LiFePo4 charge fast. That's a great thing about them! If you can live with them for a while, the longer you have them in service, the better the battery choices when it comes time to replace them. There's no '...

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

There is one issue with loads , the inverter is not compensating for loads like it used to . PV input is currently 1.8kw , if I turn the toaster on which draws .9kw the PV input doesn’t go up to compensate for the load , the system draws from the batteries instead . Is the system off-grid? The batt...

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

The Mate3 I have does have global charge control…but it only works if grid tie is enabled , I have enabled it and set Max at input at 40A The grid-tie settings for GCC are a constant source of confusion. To clarify: • Global Charger Control requires Grid Tie Mode = Enabled on the FlexMax Charge Con...

Re: Help needed reconfiguring system for LifePo4 batts

Please check your profile and update the equipment list. A VFXR3048(E?) is listed, but its mentioned the system is 24V. How many of these 24V @ 100AH battery blocks are being planned? Does the BMS permit parallel connections? IMO, at least 2 blocks (24V @ 200AH) is a minimum. Looking at the specs, t...

Re: Upgrading From FLAs to Simpliphi

For your battery, charge current is to be limited to 75 Amps. "Is this the case with two SimpliPhi batteries?" Yes I don't know about the Grid Tie Mode activity on the Mate3s, as I never had occasion to mess with it, except that the FX3048T isn't "grid interactive" so maybe the ...

Re: No PV or Inverter showing on Mate3s

Check all the disconnects (circuit breakers) and make sure they are in the ON position. Were any wiring or configuration changes made recently? What type/brand/model battery? Looks like the battery has been charged (by solar?) and the FM80 is currently idle as it has nothing to do. Also, the inverte...
